This is all I have: a picture holder and a soap box.

No Father, No Mother, No Beds, No Bible, But We Do Love Jesus!
We live in a war zone in Sri Lanka, in an orphanage. Will you help us, please?

Thank you! This is the first doll I ever received.

The lives of these poor children are in constant danger in an area of Sri Lanka where no foreigners are allowed. The children live in Batticaloa. Many children have lost both of their parents and were left behind in an orphanage. Most of the children do not have beds. They sleep on straw mats on the bare concrete floor. They have no personal belongings. All they have is a bag with a few clothes, a soap box and nothing else. They have only one change of underwear, no towels, no toys (recently some children received a doll), nothing of the riches of your children.

A few of the children have a Bible, but others would like to get also a Bible and a bed. They would also love to have a towel and another change of underwear.

Bullet in day-care center

Rev. Jeyanesan points to a bullet imbedded in a day-care center.

There is a war going on between the government forces and the Tamil Tigers. Many orphans’ parents were killed by bullets. People in Sri Lanka will look down upon orphans. They consider it a punishment of the children’s sins in their “former lives”. The children are abused at school. Most of the children do not even have a picture of their parents, who were killed in the war that is going on. The children are Tamils, living on the east coast of Sri Lanka.

Recently I visited them, bringing about 200 stuffed animals/dolls with me from children in the Netherlands. I was able to enter as Rev. Jeyanesan, who is in charge of the orphanages, has special rights, similar to the red cross. It was the first time in their lives to receive a toy. It was also the first time in their lives to be shod with slippers and clothed in underwear.
I want to do more for these poor children. I cannot do it alone. I need your help. A little bit of money goes a long way.
