Samalkot Orphan Home - India

Our Orphan Home is situated in South India, in a state called Andhra Pradesh. Here you will find people from the trible people groups called Koya, Konda, Reddy, Yanadas and Yaraka. They live in the thick forest jungle and are hard working farmers and hunters, involved in work such as collecting gum from trees, bark from other trees, hunting birds and animals.

Among the tribal people polygamy is being practiced. (One man having many wives). Here people are used to drink home-made liquors, which is highly dangerous. As a result, many deaths occurred and many children became orphans. Due to promiscuity, many children do not know who their parents are and left, without any education.

These orphans involved in anti-social activities with anti Government forces. And also they became powerful weapons in the hands of landlords. These orphans also became addicted to liquors, and, in due time, they became harmful to society.

Pastor Prabhakar Rao was moved to see the depreciated condition of these children in this tribal belt. Among this tribal people, death rates are very high between the ages 5 to 10 due to lacking medical care and nutrition. He went looking for such children and brought them together in this Orphan Home in order to feed them proper food and to give them clothing and education so that they may become better citizens.

It costs 20$ for a child per month in order to provide nutrition, clothing and education. If you would like to sponsor a child, please send your gifts to:
