The WATAN (homeland) orphanage is situated in the Jalozi refugee camp near Peshawar city (Pakistan). There are a total of 163 children including 94 boys and 69 girls. The orphanage provides them with education, clothing, shelter, medical care and other necessities. Unfortunately it pains us that due to lack of funds we canít accept more orphans while there are thousands of such suffering children around us who need to be cared for. As the rate of literacy in Afghanistan is very low, education for the children is given importance in the first place especially while the girlís schools have been closed by Taliban in Afghanistan. In our orphanage education is given a special importance. English being an international language, is given much importance. In order to introduce English as a language, we have launched evening English courses with the help of some of our volunteer teachers.
